Couple’s counseling

When is couple’s counseling called for?
Couple’s counseling is relevant when one (or both) of the partners in a relationship feels unhappy about a certain issue and seeks to change the situation.
The process focuses on the specific issue and the dynamics within the couple that usually precipitates the issue. The goal of the counseling is to attain a new perspective of the dynamics, which often varies from preconceived notions that contribute to the deadlock. Consequently this results in a new awareness that can ultimately unravel the entanglement.

Do both partners need to attend the consultation?
No. The counseling procedure (and its’ ultimate success) is not dependent on both partners being present. Results can be successfully achieved with only one of the partners. The nature of dynamics is such that they are affected even if change occurs from only on one side. Therefore, the key to solving an issue is always available to whichever one of the partners is inclined to use it.

How many sessions are necessary?
There is no fixed number of sessions. Occasionally even one session can be enough to identify and change the dynamics. Often however, there may be a need for continued clarification. The number of sessions is set by the client according to their progress in regards to solving the issue.
